At the top of Primrose hill, opposite Kings Norton cemetery Off Longdales Rd., Kings Norton, Birmingham B38 9UR.
History of the Green Edit
The site was once three farm fields belonging to Lilycroft farm. It was taken over by the Fields Millennium Green Trust in 2001, and was landscaped , planted and managed for the benefit of local people who use it for recreation and exercise.
Millennium Feature Edit
A metal sculpture of a flower designed by boys from the then Kings Norton High School, and fabricated by Tim Tolkien.
Other Features Edit
The site has an event field, an orchard, a wildflower meadow, a damp area, native woodland and hazel coppices. There is also a Natural Play area in the woodland, gravel paths, three picnic benches as well as other seating. There are dogwaste bins and othr litter bins on site. Access is via squeeze stiles, but there is a gate which disabled people can use with a rada key.
Nature & Wildlife Edit
A Nature trail exists around the site, with display panels giving information about the flora and fauna.
Open Days are held every two or three years, and there are also activities for children such as den-building sessions. There are regular volunteer conservation/maintenance weekend sessions.
